23/04/2014 - Event Photography
Well what a fabulous day out this was. I get invited to do various kinds of photography, branding and art direction etc. But when it comes to a spare of the moment shoot for some friends I find it hard to say no. This particular shoot on the other hand had me on edge a little as it involved working with kids. Don’t get me wrong we all know that working with Kids and Animals is normally a recipe for disaster. But I have to say in this case not so much…
I was lucky enough to meet Alex and Sean in 2011 at a wedding shoot I was doing for some close friends of theirs. It wasn’t long after I had finished editing the photos for that particular couple that Alex got in touch to ask if I could photograph their wedding as shown here: Alex & Sean – 2012.
I would hope that I am not too forward in staying that I can now call Alex & Sean friends as we did keep in touch for sometime after their special day. My wife especially wanted me to keep in close contact with Sean, as he is the Managing Director of the luxury Elemis beauty product range. If I am honest I use their products too. Sometimes the perks of this job are just amazing.
Nevertheless Alex got in touch a few times recently to try and arrange a date but this kept changing, as Sean is an extremely busy man. Eventually at the last minute I got the call and dropped everything to get down to London and get the job done in a 1-hour window.
I had met their son Jamie aged 4 on various occasions and I had taken some cracking photos of him. Ollie on the other had been my biggest concern at 2 years old. Why I was worried I have no idea, as he was just a little angel. Ollie tried on a few occasions to leg it and chase towards a giant tree but with my camera in tow I soon managed to reel off some super pictures.
Alex as always looked amazing… she doesn’t even need to work at it and Sean despite being tired from international travels managed to perk up after a coffee and once his kid’s rugby tackled him.
The day went so smoothly I was packing my gear up before I realised and back in the car heading for home. Both Alex and Sean love the photos and if any of you are reading this then feel free to get in touch. I have two kids aged 1 and 4 and my camera is always in their faces. I don’t see why I need to be worried anymore as the best photos of kids tend to be the ones that involve them having fun and being just themselves. Its also good to get out and about and as a Milton Keynes photographer I also enjoy these quick little trips into London.
I must thank Alex & Sean again for the fab day and a little extra thanks to Sean for driving me around in his Aston Martin… Am I showboating a little? Well yes but that’s only because my wife loves those cars and to coin a phase, “she was well jel”
